Young South African KTM rider Wade Young stole the victory in the Red Bull Sea to Sky Forest Race finishing 0.03 seconds ahead of Jonny Walker Off-Road Racer. Graham Jarvis was third. All to play for in Sunday's Mountain Race.
Wade: "I had a great race. I thought starting from eighth may have hurt me a little with the dust but I coped well and was able to charge from the very beginning. I just tried to keep ticking riders off. When I was the fourth guy to cross the finish line I knew I'd had a good run but it's always difficult to tell. Hopefully I can keep this pace up for the Mountain Race tomorrow."
Jonny: "I'm a little disappointed to miss out on the win but second is more than good enough for a front row start. First rider way for the Forest Race was great to avoid the dust but having no lines to follow made it tricky in places. I only really had one problem when I reached a checkpoint and caught the marshall off guard but other than than I've no complaints. I'm looking forward to the big one now, it's going to be a battle to the finish. There's a lot of guys riding well but hopefully I can make it up the mountain first and claim that perfect season of wins."
